Oh, are those chive seeds? I want to figure out how to harvest mine! If you decide to add some words here, I will read them eagerly. :)

Hi Karen! Those are indeed chive seeds. They are super easy to gather. When the flower heads are dry you can see the little black seeds inside waiting to be plucked (or in my case self-sown in all my container plants!) Chives actually self-sow very readily and I try to cut back all the flowers before they get a chance to set their seed all over the place. Garlic chives are the worst when it comes to self-sowing everywhere. This year I am getting behind! I have found the seeds stay viable for quite awhile if they are stored well. Have fun! :)

Hi Cynthia! It’s Toni from Wyoming.
Love wordless Wednesday! Looking forward to Mystery Squash Thursday!

Summer has finally arrived here… well… at least the warm dry weather has arrived. My plants are starting to grow!

SO LOVELY! I want to learn how to harvest seeds from all my plants this year :) My radishes and cilantro are flowering already so I need to figure it out quick!

Hi Cynthia, you have such a beautiful name. ;) I have never gathered seeds from radishes but cilantro on the other hand is another story. Last year I let some go to seed and they are now coming up all over the herb garden. They self-sowed very nicely much to my surprise. You have to catch cilantro seed before it gets to dry and scatters itself everywhere like mine did. The seed is also edible and someday I will gather enough to use in the kitchen. It smells wonderful-almost lemony and is delicious in homemade bread.

I have them in pots now so I don’t know how they will do if I let them self-sow. Maybe I’ll put the pot over the bed I want to have cilantro in next year lol. Or I’ll check on it daily to make sure to harvest the seeds hehe. Thank you so much for the advice!
