WIP Wednesday -3
This is my very first Yarn Along post. I thought I would post one today as it also goes along well with the WIP Wednesdays that I have been trying to write lately.
Ginny at Small Things hosts Yarn Along each week and she asks us what are we knitting and reading at the moment. I just recently picked up a new book to read called Make Your Place: Affordable and Sustainable Nesting Skills by Raliegh Briggs. I am enjoying it and find that I agree on some key points that the author states.
From the introduction:
“Gardening, homemaking, healing: these are all such basic aspects of human life on this planet, and they are important for just that reason. The tools to create a more intentional and sustainable daily existence are rooted in the tiny, artless actions that we perform.”
The recipes and ideas are all simple to follow and create for someone just beginning to dive into the world of making your own cleaners, herbal remedies, and gardening.
I have just started yet another knitting project for my daughter, Ariella. (The lucky girl always seems to get my knitted items!) A few nights ago I casted on some organic cotton yarn (blogged about here) that will be transformed into a summer dress. Ariella’s favorite color at this moment happens to be yellow (a surprise move away from pink) so I know she will love this dress. She does not yet know I am knitting it for her.
On a side note, I also just this week finished up a test knit for a super cute hat called Grumpus. (Check out the other patterns by designer Anna Sudo here.) It was easy to knit and I look forward to Gabriel being able to wear it this winter. I think it looks pretty darn cute on him.
Hope everyone is enjoying summer. We are so glad to be finally seeing some nicer weather!

Interesting book, I think I need to go look for it
I love the Grumpus hat – it is just too cute and so is the little boy wearing it!
I love that book. I have it perched on my kitchen window sill for easy access.
I made the rainbow dress for my daughter for Christmas last year and we love it. It was so much fun to knit!
That hat is adorable!

I’m glad that you joined Yarn Along today. Your knitting projects are lovely. The hat is so cute!
The book sounds interesting and practical. I am working at establishing berry bushes and herbs throughout my yard.
Oh, I love that book! It’s very helpful, and I love that it’s handwritten!
That yellow yarn is pretty – perfect for summer.
