Even More Garden Close-ups

by Cynthia on July 11, 2008

I have two more garden close-ups to share and I was trying to find a way of incorporating them into today’s blog. I thought it might be fun to see if anyone can figure out what they are. This past week I was amusing myself too much with the taking the camera out to the garden and I got some really neat photos. (Or at least I think they are neat!)

Hopefully some of my regular readers will participate (hint, hint) :-) . There is no prize to be given it is strictly for fun and to see if anyone can name the plants pictured. If you think you might know what one is just leave a comment with your guess and I will post the answers after I get some guesses.

I’m sure #1 is sweet marjoram and I’m guessing #2 is oregano?

Well number 2 is thyme. No clue about the first photo.

Yeah, I got two responses! :-)

Amy- You are right #1 is sweet marjoram. It’s starting to flower like crazy. Aren’t the flowers interesting to look at?

Daphne- Number 2 is thyme. English thyme to be exact. I think they look so neat up close. It’s hard to appreciate how pretty they are until you look really close since the flowers are so tiny.

Thank you both for posting responses!

I have to confess I love thyme. I have 5 different varieties in my garden right now, though one is not culinary, it is a creeping thyme. None of them are in bloom yet, but soon.

Daphne- I love thyme too and I have got my oldest son loving it as well. We are also growing caraway thyme which is a creeping thyme and smells like caraway! I could go crazy with all the types of thyme out there.
