The Blogging Cindys

by Cynthia on August 20, 2008

When I started this blog there came with it the question of what would I let myself be called to the world of the internet web. I tried to think of something that would be fitting for the title of this site, Brambleberries in the Rain. Everything I came up with was too cutesy for my taste. I ended up deciding my best bet was to just stick with my actual name. After all, it gave the blog a more personal touch.

Little did I know just how many blogging Cindys there are out there on the net. Garden blogging Cindys to be precise.  I found it rather amusing to see so many other ladies out there that shared not only my name but also my passion. Just recently I noticed something though while reading some comments left on some of my favorite blogs. It is hard to tell which Cindy is saying what. Cinj makes it a little easier as does Cindee but there are more Cindys like myself that make it hard to distinguish who is who while reading everyone’s comments.

Because of this I have been contemplating going with my real name which is Cynthia. I have gone by either name my whole life and am used to being called either Cindy or Cynthia. To make it easier on readers, since we all seem to share our love for so many gardening blogs, I will from now on use my real name of Cynthia when leaving comments as well as for comments left here at my blog. Hope this is not too confusing for everyone!

The Blogging Cindys sounds like a girl band or something rather cute :)

Karen

Ha! A girl band- that makes me laugh! :) I like the sounds of that! -Cynthia

Now I have to remember that you are Cynthia! :) It is confusing sometimes which Cindy is commenting on my blog. Hopefully this clears things up, especially if I remember who Cynthia is, lol. Just kidding. :) I have to agree with Karen, The Blogging Cindys does sound like a girl band. I like the name of your blog, it is very unique.

Hi PGL, Your blog is one of the ones I was refering to! I would be visiting your site reading comments going “I don’t remember saying that” and then realizing it wasn’t me it was another Cindy! Now I just have to remember to always type Cynthia. lol
I actually wasn’t too sure about the name of this blog when I first started it but I have since had several people tell me it is nice so I guess it wasn’t that bad after all! :) -Cynthia

That’s a pretty name and hopefully it would clear up some confusion. It is nice of you to make the change. Actually, I think it will make it easier to remember you.

Thank you Barbee. My husband is always telling me it is a pretty name and he actually calls me by it all the time as well as some family members. I like your name as it is easy to remember and it makes me think of bees in the garden! :) -Cynthia

Cynthia is such a beautiful name. It has been hard for me to keep up with which cindy is which. I always comment back and this helps.

Hi Deb, thanks for the compliment on my name. :) I wondered if that might be happening when I began having the same problem with my very own comments! Hope this helps out a little. -Cynthia

I’m sure we’ll all recognize who you are now. (I too love the name of your blog)
I first started out as pianananna and then went to Marie. There were several Maries leaving comments on my own blog also so I finally went to Jane Marie and it’s been fine ever since. Some people didn’t know me at first but I made an announcement just like yours, and they just went with the flow. So — Hello Cynthia!!

Hello Jane Marie! :-) I really was surprised by all the Cindys out there since growing up I only knew one or two. I’m glad you switched to Jane Marie. I think it is pretty and it is a name that you don’t forget. -Cynthia

cynthia, that may very well help! As a Jennifer, with so many other Jennifer’s out there, I’ve been known to change my name to Jen or Jenny just to distinguish myself from the crowds.

Hi Jennifer, Jen, Jenny ;-) ! Like I mentioned above I never knew so many Cindys until I started blogging! -Cynthia

Well, I did play the drums in highschool if you’re thinking about starting a band. LOL. It has become quite confusing. I’m sure glad I stuck with the hybrid-type nickname that my mom first gave me. It does make it easier when we can keep track of who we’re talking to, doesn’t it? I’ve also answered to both names my whole life. I had always wished to be given a pretty name like Cynthia. It’s funny how many comments I get from people about having to use my GIVEN name when I’m signing documents. They look quite funny to me when I tell them that I am. Glad to get another distiction. If there are other Cindys out there, maybe another one could become Cyndi? So many Cindys, so little time!

So we have a drummer now, great! That still leaves plenty of openings though if anyone is interested! ;-)

Names are funny aren’t they. I have gone by Cynthia a lot but then people will get confused when they hear someone call me Cindy and vise versa. And my husband has a name that also commonly uses a nickname and everyone wants to know what to call him by. When he says it doesn’t matter you can tell people don’t like that. They want one name and they want him to tell them which one it is! The names we are given and what they mean to all of us are pretty interesting to think about really. -Cynthia
