I suppose it was inevitable. Especially when you consider how sick the younger kids have been for the past two weeks. Two weeks adds up to a whole lot of runny noses being wiped by Mama and Daddy. By Friday afternoon there was no question about it, Steve and I had come down with the nastiest cold the kids have caught in quite a while. It was our turn to feel miserable and now we know why Gabriel has been so clingy and downright grumpy. This has really been one horrible cold. I have been caring for sick people for all of January now! It is no wonder it hit me so hard over the weekend. Today is the first day since Thursday that I feel a little bit more like myself.

I spent a large portion of the weekend laying in bed reading, crocheting and drinking very large quantities of my favorite under the weather tea blend. I was too tired and icky feeling to really concentrate on any of my current knitting so, I kept my ball of fabric yarn by my side and began work on the rag rug.

I am pretty happy with how it is looking. I think I have decided on it going in Ariella’s room once it is finished. I would work on it here and there while a sick little one would curl up next to me in my bed.

Ariella is enjoying watching it grow larger and I think that is my main deciding factor on having it go in her room.

As you can see in the photos, I have just about ran out of fabric yarn so I need to make some more strips. I think I have enough sheets and fabric scraps to make just enough more to finish this rug. I’m not too sure how big it is going to be. I think I will know when I see it.

Another week where I am barely making it to the computer for this week’s Raverly in Review. What a crazy week it has been! In fact, I almost did not post today’s Ravelry in Review. I was going to instead save it for tomorrow or maybe even skip it this week entirely. But, my stats show that many of you are enjoying these weekly posts so I can’t let you or myself down. I will have to sit down here soon one night and tell you about the craziness that has been going on lately. What a summer!

Below are a bunch of random patterns that I have been admiring. I had a lot of fun doing a theme for last week’s Ravelry in Review so I think I might do some more of those in the near future!

I keep eyeing this first pattern. I think I might just have to break down and buy it! I love how it works for either a boy or a girl and is sized newborn to 10 years. I could use it for both Ariella and Gabriel which I really like!

Gavrosh Pants by Elena Nodel

I am not too fond of knitting cables. It just hasn’t grown on me yet but this pattern by Kate Oates is tempting me to try them again. I’m really drawn to this hat and I need a new hat for myself this fall! I love how the reverse stockinette stitch makes the cables really pop.

Maybe these Ravelry in Review posts show it but in case they don’t, I tend to be more of a knitter than a crocheter. Every now and then though I get the urge to pull out my crochet hooks and when that urge strikes again I think I might turn to this pattern for potholders. So cute.

Summer sure is flying by and I have not even begun to plan what I need to knit everyone for fall and winter this year. I really want to get more organized with my knitting so I can accomplish all that I would like to make. Right now I am at a loss as to how to do just that. These Ravelry in Review posts are not making my knitting much easier either! Instead my list of items I want to make just keeps right on growing!

I know of a certain little 4 year old that would just love for me to knit this one for her! I am always finding things to knit for my daughter. This skirt is so perfect for my little girly-girl. And the pattern is free too!

For the last pattern today I have yet another little girl knit. This one is a little too small for my daughter. {it goes up to 18m} Too bad as it is so sweet! Perhaps with a little revisions I could make one for my son?
